Guidance for requesting a skip licence

  • All applications will be responded to within 24 hours, excluding weekends and bank holidays
  • We will aim to issue your licence within three to four working days
  • Should the requested location of your skip require inspection by a Highways Officer, please allow 5 working days following the submission of your application
  • Please note if a parking bay suspension is required, you must request this and obtain approval prior to submitting a skip licence application.

Requests must be submitted at least 7 working days prior to the date you require your suspension to start. You cannot apply for a skip license if you do not have an approved bay suspension.

When applying for your skip licence, ensure to include your bay suspension reference number (BSU prefix). Failure to include the approved bay reference number will result in your skip licence being refused.

If your application for a bay suspension has been rejected, do not apply for a separate skip license as your application will be refused and you may not be entitled to a refund.

If your bay suspension application has been approved, but your skip license application has been refused, we can only issue a partial refund if the signs have not been put up on the street. The Council will retain the non-refundable administration fee detailed in the prices section below. Please note, if signs have been put up on the street, we will not be able to issue you refund.

It is important to notify us immediately via email or telephone with details as soon as you have been made aware that a skip license has not been refused so that we can investigate if you are eligible for a refund. Failure to contact us promptly may result in no refund being issued.
